Development with communities

By working together with communities that take the initiative to try to improve their situation, we seek to establish, long-term, sustainable developments. We aim to help other rural projects, besides Jatropha.

Current Projects

  • - Development of Improved varieties of Jatropha.
  • - Intercropping
  • - Oil expelling
  • - Bee keeping and honey production

Proposed Projects

  • - Construction of a bridge over a river
  • - Soap manufacturing
  • - Fish farming
  • - Improvement to clean water supplies
  • - Improvement to sewerage handling.
  • - Press cake, and Biochar.

Projects such as these can reduce poverty and illness. Many rural villages have suffered from a lack of jobs. Many young people have drifted to the urban centers to look for work. The people of the villages we work with, had low disposable incomes so most can not even afford basic farming tools.

Jatropha Africa is engaged with partner organizations to spread know how about farming techniques. We are collaborating with a the University of Greenwich and other European and African research centres to deliver a programme to support small farmers in Ghana and South Africa.
